Terrible place! We visited it on a Saturday afternoon for a drink (three girls). There was barely anybody in the place, but we weren't allowed to get in because one of my friends was xxxxxx. This is outrageous! They should shout down this place! Can't believe that this happened to us!
i went there for the 2nd time since the 1st impression was very positive. However this time was very disappointing ; the food average and the time it took to be served too long. What was the most disappointing was the staff- very rude and offensive- we had booked a table for 10 people and since 2 people were late they took away our chairs and when we asked for them back they told us it was not their job to find chairs for us! in any case we had a nice time but not sure i would ever go back after this...
JdH is one of the most interesting social phenomena in Brussels... A must see. The only disco-bar which has remained open for 25y+. Its marketing success is fueled by its pergola deco and its denial of entrance and rejection policy. This latter one is applied randomly to everybody (irrespectively of looks, economic means, sex, race or age) but only in the right dose to make rejected people insist another day (you always get admitted eventually) and keep the regulars high with a sense of belonging to something exclusive (which they pay in terms drink by drink, since there is no membership fee nor club card nor anything)... Built to impress the modern-age prefabricated flat furniture customer, if what you are looking for is networking with influential people this is not the place to be. But, on the contrary, if you wish to have some fun looking at well-behaving people showing off customs and throwing money on not-so cheap (for a night club not-so expensive either) drinks, before they make their way home by foot under the rain, or in a second hand Ferrari, then, satisfaction is guaranteed... The music is nothing special. Attendance is nice as in any place with lots of young people, with the plus of the weirdo atmosphere. You really get what you buy applying for entrance, so more praise than criticism for this already classic place with the only setback that (after some time going) you will discover the people attending are always the same and hanging out with the very same and in the very same mood, so you will probably get bored and get away somewhere else... Face renewal happens at a rate of 3-4 years, so a 3 year holiday break from the place is more than recommended once this happens ;)
We were tourists in Brussels, and of course we couldn't have a membership card. My friend and I were alone, we took a expansive taxi to arrive on the place and in the end doormen just said we were not welcome there, because we didn't have the membership card and none who had it invited us! Even if the place is beautiful, their attitude is the most desgusting I have ever seen in my life! Terrible, terrible!
Please AVOID this place and do NOT support the racism people owning the people and doormen. We went there dresses beautifully and as soon as we arrived a very angry door man stood front of us looking not welcoming. When he found out we did not speak his language, we felt he will hit us and push us. It is discrimination and this will be reported to a journalist to have a nice story to write about this racist place. Normally as a doorman you should say good evening and maybe ask for a membership or a guest list with a smile, this is called proper behavior. And this is absolutely not something you meet at this racist place. Wake up, we are living in 2011.
What a dump. You have racist Sicilian bouncers who do not let certain ethnic minorities in, and it is, according to me, not a "classy" venue but more of a provincial gathering of haughty individuals who want to pretend to be something they are not. Boycott this place. Better staying at home than going to this village of idiots. Belgians also condone or turn a deaf ear and blind eye to discrimiination. I have heard the words, "chintok", marlouff, etc used on a constant basis, but I have yet to see a Belgian ever condemn it publicly. Very sad indeed.
