La Main Dans La Poêle

Only (overpriced) pasta on the menu. The food was nothing special, but the owner was: be careful not to follow his suggestions, otherwise your bill will go through the roof. Also the wine: he told us that he would have charged only what actually drunk, but finally he wanted to charge the entire bottle.

When we asked for clarifications, he insulted us loudly. As an Italian I am sorry for the poor way this character publicises my own country.

To avoid

1) extremely unjustified high prices
2) no salt in the pasta and lasagna burned on the top
3) we were INSULTED by the owner when pointing at an error in the bill
I can only confirm other people's negative reviews and I'm sorry I did not follow their advice...

Guys, the extremely high prices are unjustified and the bill was full of errors (?). I hate to feel cheated and to be insulted when asking for clarifications. shame on the owner which is too laud and too rude! I'm not going back ever again.

As an Italian who moved to Belgium just a few months ago, I can still recognize "authentic" Italian food. I had too many fake "spaghetti bolognese" so far, but finally we discover "La Main Dans La Poêle" and for our immense joy, we have been able to taste some authentic "Napoletano" food. The place has a magical atmosphere and the owner is friendly and pleasant. Good choice of Italian wines that blend perfectly with the dishes.
A little expensive though, and definitely not for everyone, especially if you are used to bad Belgian pasta you could not fully appreciate what we define "al dente".

We went to this resto last night. Ambience is nice, food is good quality but very greasy and hard to digest. the basically have pasta only. Service is quite slow. The waitress brought us a dish we didn't order and insisted we asked for it even if she didn't write it on her notebook. the chef-boss was very rude and smoking indoor. we had a cashemere scarf stolen by other guests. we asked to the waitress if they knew these guests, and she said they did, but then refused to give them a call to check if they had taken it by mistake. all in all, definetely non going back.
