An excellent address to buy gifts for the entire family is the “Dandoy” biscuit factory, located in a small street close to la Grand Place. The house has varied and marvellous metal boxes. There are several types of biscuits, but also gingerbreads, the marsipan cakes and macaroons. Dandoy is famous for its spéculoos, the very traditional Belgian biscuit, made with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger and anise. Brown sugar gives a special texture. It has a variation with chocolate also. All is made by hand and is managed by the heirs of the family which opened the biscuit factory in 1829.
